Operation Prayer Shield

We had an incredible week! I don’t know, but I would venture to say that last week was the greatest single soul-saving endeavor in Metro’s 29 year history! Yesterday was electrified with God’s Holy Spirit! Souls were saved; lives were transformed.  

But, I have been reminded of the spiritual warfare associated with our recent incredible spiritual advance in delivering 588 people out of darkness into God’s marvelous light. I expect the enemy to attempt to retaliate against us in some way, so please join me in prayer this month to form a Metro Prayer Shield.  

In Ephesians 6:11-18, Paul instructs the Ephesians, who had seen God’s power work to overthrow the regional forces of evil, to “Put on the whole armor of God.” Just as he instructed them take to themselves the “shield of faith” (v-16), they were also to construct a “Prayer Shields!” “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints“ (v-18). Please pray for the following:  

1. New Coverts:

Pray that the Lord will help these new converts to not give up any ground in their hearts to the devil (Eph 4:29). Pray that they would be led away from temptation and delivered from all evil (Matt 6:13). Pray that they would resist the devil so that he will flee from them (James 4:7; I Pet 5:9).  

2. Metro

a.       Pray against the “wiles” (schemes) of the enemy and his “flaming arrows” (missiles).

b.      Pray against any and all lingering warfare of controlling spirits (Dan 10:13).

c.       Pray for “Revival” to break-out in every heart (Acts 2:4).  

3. Special Request

a.    Mike & Linda Childress’ grandson, Joshua Brand, is at UAB hospital and needs a miracle by Tuesday. After this newborns open-heart surgery his right ventricle needs to open on it’s own or, they will have to do another open-heart surgery. Please pray!

b.    Remember Clara Dunham’s family in the loss of her brother Joe Powell.

c.     Pray for Carol Way – she has had a severe migraine and has had to go to the emergency room.

d.    Charles Dennis as kidney cancer. He will have to have kidney removed. Having test this week.

e.    Pray for the continued recovery and healing of Herman Lance.
